Building business models with new technologies – that’s what startups located at Business Innovation Campus de Gasfabriek do. Together with stakeholders from the government, education, students and experienced entrepreneurs, innovative propositions are created and scaled towards real business.

The large role for schools and universities became apparent last Thursday during the Technology Inspiration Day organized by Saxion University of Applied Sciences. Students of the Small Business & Retail Management programs in Deventer and Enschede were inspired by Gasfabriek entrepreneurs, with various technology related workshops.

Aime inspired the Saxion students by taking them along on a ride through the wonderful world of Artificial Intelligence & Big Data.

The Inspiration Day had a plenary start with a presentation by trendwatcher and technopreneur Willem Poterman, whose experience with Apple, Inc. helps him staying ahead of technology developments. With his platform HanzeNet, he connects owners of solarpholtaic panels who can trade energy on a peer-to-peer basis, using blockchain technology.

Startups Coinversable, Tijdlab and Iotify also gave workshops about blockchain technology, virtual and augmented reality and the Internet of Things, respectively. Experienced entrepreneurs from the Gasfabriek explained students the difference between traditional incremental innovation and disruptive innovation, doing things differently.

We are looking back to a very good day!
